“When we try to pick out anything by itself, we find it hitched to everything else in the Universe.”

-John Muir

This site is dedicated to my study of cetaceans and their ecology, in an effort to better understand their role as part of the ecosystem, how they are impacted by human activities, and what is required for their conservation.

What is “Cetacean Ecology” anyway?

Cetaceans are marine mammals belonging to the order “Cetacea”, which include dolphins, whales, and porpoises. Ecology is the study of organisms and how they interact with the environment. Therefore, “Cetacean Ecology” is the study of how dolphins, whales, and porpoises live and interact with everything in their surroundings. This includes their biology as well as their behavior.
